Orthotics

Orthotics Q & A

What are orthotics?

Orthotics are wearable tools used to modify skeletal posture or movement to treat a condition or injury. For example, custom insoles to correct foot position or a back brace to correct posture. When combined with chiropractic care, orthotics can provide additional support and guidance to correct misaligned areas.

What conditions are commonly treated with orthotics?

he most common orthotics are custom shoe insoles designed to correct foot posture and abnormal walking patterns. Our feet are the base for our entire skeleton, so poor foot posture can lead to a number of conditions, including knee and back pain. Orthotic insoles can be the first step to correcting many common misalignments.

Orthotics can also include devices such as back braces and knee braces that provide support for mobile parts of the body when healing after injury. Orthotic braces help prevent additional injury to weak areas while patients undergo physical therapy.

Why see a chiropractor for orthotics?

Chiropractors are trained to treat the body as a whole. Rather than focusing on a local problem while ignoring the surrounding bones and muscles, Studio 48 Med Spa and Wellness combines orthotic treatments with chiropractic manipulations and exercises to help restore full function to the body. This means that patients often recover from injury more quickly and comfortably than with orthotics alone.

What is the treatment process like for orthotics?

Tension headaches are the result of tense muscles in the upper body. Chiropractic adjustment can help release this tension and prevent it from returning, especially when used in conjunction with massage therapy.

Can chiropractic care help with migraine headaches?

Patients start with a full chiropractic evaluation to determine if there is a need for orthotic correction, or if patients may benefit more from alternative treatment strategies. If it is decided that a patient will benefit from a treatment plan including orthotics, Studio 48 Med Spa and Wellness will take careful measurements to order orthotics that are then custom fitted to each patient. Patients work with our providers to develop an optimal holistic treatment plan that may involve chiropractic care, physical therapy, and orthotic devices.
